Welcome to St. David's CBS Career Guidance page. This site offers valuable tips on subject choice, CAO options and CV preparation for both students and parents. The Guidance Notice Board on the right hand side provides information on up and coming Career events and the Education News provides up to the minute Career News. On the left hand side the Useful Links section leads directly to a wealth of information on various career considerations such as the CAO, the HEAR and DEAR scheme, Student Finance and Careers Portal. Take time to explore and read the various Guidance Articles relating to both career information and mental health issues on the left hand side also.
Guidance and counselling is an integral part of our school's educational provision. It can be categorised under three headings
- Personal and Social
Personal and Social Cousnelling is a key part of the Guidance service provided in the school. Good mental health and well being for every student is priortised in St. David's CBS. Personal and group counselling is offered to students in both times of personal crisis and periods of concern or worry. Counselling will help students to develop coping skills for their ever changing circumstances and resolve isssues in their personal and social life. Strong links are maintained with outside agencies and appropraite refferal is encouraged where necessary.
Educational Guidance and Cousnelling is a process that begins in first year and continues right through to sixth year where students are supported in developing a love of learning. Students are encouraged to explore different learning opportunities within the school curriculum and extra curricular activities provided and persevere at challenging tasks. Strudent's educational progress and attaintment is supported at all times through a variety of methods including, study tips, apptitude tests and continious communication with both students and parents.
Career Counselling is an essential part of the Guidance service in the school. The aim is to empower students to make infomed decisions about their future career choice and develop strong research skills in acquiring information on courses and careers they are interested in.
