In Brief... Archaeologist

 Brief Description:

Searches for knowledge of the past by studying and digging for ancient artifacts.

Archaeologists tend to specialise in a particular area of history. Some study Pre-Historic times while others concentrate on more recent history like that of the Vikings in Dublin. The work of the archaeologist varies accordingly.

Archaeologists can be found 'on site' at an excavation digging for evidence of the past, painstakingly searching old ruins for hints and traces of history. They can also be found working in museums, analysing and identifying the ancient artefacts and bones that were previously unearthed during what is known as a 'dig'.

The work of an archaeologist is mainly aimed at piecing together the story and history of our planet through research, excavation and laboratory analysis.

Personal Attributes: enquiring mind, observant, able to plan, patient.
