In Brief... Brewer

 Brief Description:

Co-ordinates, plans and runs the entire process involved in the making of beer.

The process of making beer is not as simple as it sounds. There are a lot of steps along the path to making the beer tasty. First of all the Brewer must decide on what ingredients he/she is going to use in the beer. Then the Brewer must decide on the equipment that he/she is going to make the beer in and for how long they are going to let the beer ferment.

Having planned the process, the Brewer must the co-ordinate the process to make sure that everything is being done correctly. Brewers are responsible for quality control throughout the process, and need to monitor the chemical composition of the brew at the various stages.

Brewers require a degree in Science. Shift work is common, and an ability to communicate effectively with others in the industry is important.

Personal Attributes: technical skill, efficient, get on well with people, enquiring mind.
