In Brief... Biological / Microbiological Scientist

 Brief Description:

Studies, analyses and collects information about both plant and animal life.

The Biologist studies nature, attempting to understand the structure and functions of living organisms. They investigate the environment and study the effect it has on these living organisms. They attempt to identify the causes of disease and assess the effects of chemicals on both plants and animals.

Biologists sometimes work in a laboratory doing tests and experiments. Other times they go out into nature to study plants and animals in their own environment. They compile reports of their findings and attempt to find solutions to any problems that they may uncover.

A degree in Biology and possibly Chemistry is required before you can be a Biologist. The work involves a lot of research and study. Attention to detail and a scientific approach to your work combined with a healthy curiosity for nature would be expected if you choose this career.
