My parents and family are always there to offer me advice when it comes to my career. In fact, it was my Mum and Dad who spotted the article in the paper which outlined that BNY Mellon would be opening in Cork. Mum knew I had expressed an interest in joining the company in Dublin and rang me to let me know. My brother and sister were particularly good at coaching me for my interview, and Dad is always great for helping out with my CV.
While I was in college, my family were the people I went to also, when it came to choosing courses or subjects. My decision to join BNY Mellon was predominantly to do with peers. A friend of mine had recently joined the funds industry and enjoyed the work. A good friend of mine from my Masters class had applied for a job in Bank of New York Mellon, along with 3 others from the class. It turned out that all 5 of us started on the same day which made the first day at work a whole lot easier.
