What facilities does the department have to support these courses? The Institute has a purpose built Hotel, Catering and Tourism building facility including a Training Restaurant, Front Office, Bar, Class Kitchens, Production Kitchens, Dedicated Hotel and Resort Computer Lab and Demonstration Theatre. Also elements of our Practical skills are carried out in local hotels so the students experience realistic work experiences.
What connections does the department have with Industry? Graduates return on a continuous basis to provide guest lectures and give input on new programme development. We also provide workshops and guest lecturers on specialist areas such as Ethnic Cookery, Butter Sculpture and Game cookery and Husbandry. Familiarisations trips to Industry partners of best practice. Work placement from both our full time and Part time programmes.
