Mechanical engineering is concerned with the design, maintenance and development of machines and equipment, ranging from jet engines to minute instruments used in medicine and surgery.

This course covers the theory and the practical skills required in mechanical engineering.

It includes subjects such as mathematics, mechanics, engineering science and drawing, mechanical technology, workshop practice, computer applications, energy systems, production technology, and materials.

The mechanical engineering technician works on the detailed technical design and testing of a product for production. Also leads to career as manufacturing engineer (someone who installs, automates, maintains and generally assists in the manufacturing activity) .
