Be proactive and look for the areas that interest you whether it’s the Environment or Human Rights and find MEP’s or interest groups that specialise in those interests and take the initiative to send them your CV.

Having a European language would help you considerably in this career. Irish should also not be ruled out as an option as this is considered as a second language.

Enterprising people like situations that involve using resources for personal or corporate economic gain. Such people may have an opportunistic frame of mind, and like commerce, trade and making deals. Some are drawn to sales and marketing occupations. Many will eventually end up owning their own business, or managing a section in larger organisations. They tend to be very goal-oriented, and work best when focused on a target. Summary... header image

Directed by the Dept. of Adult and Community Education the BA Local Studies/Community Studies (MH803) is a flexible, part-time evening degree designed specifically for adults. The interdisciplinary nature of this unique degree brings together eight of the University’s academic departments from the Faculties of Arts and Social Sciences to create the only degree of its kind in Ireland.

MH803 BLS Local Studies
combines the expertise in research and teaching of the Ireland’s leading history department, for the study of local history, with one of the leading geography departments in the country. In addition, the Centre for Irish Cultural Heritage and the Department of Ancient Classics provide the platform for a deeper understanding of the social forces that helped to shape both people and place.

In the MH803 BCS Community Studies programme you will study a range of subjects including Adult and Community Education; Anthropology; Applied Social Studies; Sociology. Modules on Social Analysis give people the theoretical tools to critique modern society. Modules on Counselling Theories; Youth and Community; and Substance Misuse and Dependence afford the opportunity for people to engage perhaps for the first time with the kind of skills and understanding of people who work in a developmental way within marginalised communities.
