This course educates students to solve visual communications problems through the use of logical analysis. The course allows students become familiar with modern technology in the field of graphic/typographic design.
You will study topics such as graphic form, typography, media drawing, drawing, printmaking, photography, and image manipulation software.

Opportunities exist with advertising agencies, design groups/in-house design studios, printing firm as well as multimedia companies. Graduates can apply to join the add-on Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Design with Multimedia Studies (Level 8) programme at AIT or related level-8 programmes at other third-level institution. If you reach an exceptional standard you could be accepted for entry onto Master's programmes at other colleges without the requirement of completing a primary degree. A pass in Alternative Leaving Certificate Mathematics or Foundation Level Mathematics will be accepted as meeting the minimum mathematics requirements for entry to this course. No points are awarded. Applicants must also present their portfolios for assessment by the Institute. The points obtained from the portfolio assessment are amalgamated with the Leaving Certificate points.
