Combined with one other subject within TR001. This is a joint honours programme; both subjects are studied for three years and one subject only is studied in the fourth year. In first year the social history of modern Irish and introduction to classical early modern Irish are studied. Assessment is by exercises and essays submitted during the year, as well as end-of-year examinations. In the final year you must also do research/write a dissertation.
Irish generally leads to a career in Irish media, such as radio broadcasting, television, newspapers and publishing. Translators are employed both here and abroad, as well as the teaching profession at all levels.
