This course equips graduates to design products for almost every industry sector. A study of the aesthetics, function, ease-of-use, and safety of products is the primary concern. There are lectures on materials, manufacturing technologies, and the history of design. A portfolio assessment is needed to enter this course - it does not operate with the Leaving Certificate points scheme.
Language is not essential but you must have either LC Art or an OD3 in a language other than Eng or Irish.

Graduates have found work as industrial designers in many areas of industry and consultancy and also as furniture, interior, exhibition or multimedia designers. Others work in design management or design education. Some have opted for further study in Ireland or abroad.
