Careers rarely develop the way we plan them. Our career path often takes many twists and turns, with particular events, choices and people influencing our direction.
We asked Orla Gallagher from Failte Ireland to give some advice for people considering this job:
|If considering a job in this field I think its best to have a therapy background or a caring background. Be prepared to work hard, it takes alot of effort to help create the perfect environment for others to relax in. Work well with others and help your collegues it makes for a friendly workplace and you never know when you will need their assistance. An interest in sales and marketing would also be avantageous, as you must be competitive with other spa's offerings.|

Undergraduate awards typically reflect three to five years of study after secondary school and include Ordinary (Level 7) and Honours Bachelor Degrees and Higher Diplomas (Level 8's).
Undergraduate awards may be achieved directly or through a series of progression steps. Learners may choose to progress upwards from a Level 5 to a Level 6, Level 7 and finally a Level 8.
Undergraduate awards are awarded by the HETAC or Higher Education Institutes.
3rd level Graduates are qualified for a wide range of occupations, and their education prepares them for roles involving specific skills, and for coordinating, supervising, managing, or training others. Examples include accountants, sales managers, computer programmers, teachers, chemists, environmental engineers, criminal investigators, and financial analysts.
The aim of the Pharmaceutical Healthcare course is to produce graduates that are capable of making a significant contribution to the operation of the pharmaceutical industry.

The career opportunities are in the pharmaceutical and allied healthcare sectors. Ireland has one of the largest concentrations of pharmaceutical companies in the world. In addition, a number of related industries in areas such as chemicals supply, clinical trials, sales etc. support this pharmaceutical presence.
