Social studies examines the past and current behaviour of individuals and societies. It predicts possible future human behaviour through the study of subjects such as economics, geography, politics and psychology. This knowledge can then be used to try to improve peoples lives. Social Care is a profession where people work in partnership with those who experience marginalisation or discrimination or who have special needs. Social care practitioners may work, for example, with children and adolescents in residential care; people with learning or physical disabilities; people who are homeless; people with alcohol/drug dependency; families in a community setting; or recent migrants to Ireland.
