The upgrading and conservation of existing buildings is an area of opportunity with the availability of grants and government support for the upgrading of buildings. Statistics show that in 2000 the Repair Maintenance and Improvement of Buildings accounted for €2 billion including approximately €1 billion spent on residential repair and improvement. There will be a growing need to maintain these buildings and our graduates will be well placed to service those needs.
