Philosophy is the study of general and fundamental problems concerning matters such as existence, knowledge, truth, justice, beauty, validity, mind, and language. Students are introduced to the ideas of the ancient and modern philosophers who have helped to shape western culture.

As part of an Arts degree, this subject is one of three or four subjects you choose in first year. You may choose some modules from outside the BA Arts subjects list. See UCD Horizons. In the later stages of your course you will specialise in one or two subject areas.
