Geography involves the study of subjects such as the impact of societies on the quality of the environment; geographical approaches to the study of world population; the relationship between culture, landscape transformation and politics No prior knowledge of geography is assumed.
As part of an Arts degree, this subject is one of three or four subjects you choose in first year. You may choose some modules from outside the BA Arts subjects list. See UCD Horizons. In the later stages of your course you will specialise in one or two subject areas.

Wide range of careers including urban planners, work in community development, Banking and finance, computer services, library and information services, business management, economic and industrial development agencies, public administration. A survey of 2002 arts graduates from UCD showed 40% went into employment and 50% went on to further study.
