Accounting is the language of finance and business. Accountants compile, analyse, interpret and communicate essential information about the operations of a business – whether that business be a small firm, a publicly traded corporation or an NGO (non-governmental organisation).Decisions are made based on the information provided by accountants; good accounting is crucial to any organisation's success.As a student, you will gain an excellent set of technical accounting skills, along with the capacity for financial analysis and the measurement of performance in business. Graduates may consider careers in accounting, teaching, banking and financial institutions, stock exchange and trading, and the civil service. Students who take Accounting to degree level for three years in the BA(minor) and who wish to pursue a career in accountancy, may progress to a post graduate programme in accounting which is designed to provide its graduates with the maximum exemptions from the examinations of the professional accounting bodies.
