Environmental science involves the study of how our environment functions and how peoples behaviour can change this functioning (for example through pollution and habitat destruction).
This course is a combination of the traditional science subjects and health science, which involves the study of environmental biotechnology, health, chemistry and, physics.
Students specialise in one of these areas in years 3 and 4. There is an industrial placement during year 3.

Graduates will have many opportunities, both at home and abroad. Environmental Sciences is a rapidly growing area, offering careers in waste management, pollution control, environmental monitoring or health and safety, to name but a few. You could also find yourself working for a local authority, an NGO, the Environmental Protection Agency, or an environmental consultancy.
