Careers rarely develop the way we plan them. Our career path often takes many twists and turns, with particular events, choices and people influencing our direction.
We asked Barry Duggan from Analog Devices to give some advice for people considering this job:
If your a logical thinker, like a challenge and are constantly trying to improve your understanding and knowledge then this is the job for you.
This job covers a very broad range of IC's (integrated circuits) which are used in various applications like mobile phones, cars etc. and everyday can be a new challenge or experience.
If you like taking things apart and seeing how they work then you'll really enjoy working in electronics.
Good organisational and presentation /communication skills are a nice bonus!

Undergraduate awards typically reflect three to five years of study after secondary school and include Ordinary (Level 7) and Honours Bachelor Degrees and Higher Diplomas (Level 8's).
Undergraduate awards may be achieved directly or through a series of progression steps. Learners may choose to progress upwards from a Level 5 to a Level 6, Level 7 and finally a Level 8.
Undergraduate awards are awarded by the HETAC or Higher Education Institutes.
3rd level Graduates are qualified for a wide range of occupations, and their education prepares them for roles involving specific skills, and for coordinating, supervising, managing, or training others. Examples include accountants, sales managers, computer programmers, teachers, chemists, environmental engineers, criminal investigators, and financial analysts.

This course covers a broad range of business subjects is in years 1 and 2. There are opportunities to specialise in accountancy, management, marketing, business economics, government, food business, business mathematics and statistics, or law in the final year. A language is taken in year 1, with the opportunity to continue with it until the end. This is a 4 year degree as opposed to the 3 year degrees in UCD, UCG.
