From 2009, students must achieve a minimum of 480 points, and meet the minimum subject requirements for medicine in the same sitting of the Leaving Certificate, and complete a required admissions test. This is now a restricted course therefore you must apply to CAO by the 1st of Feb.
Years 1, 2, 3 emphasis is on the science subjects. The last three years students concentrate on clinical medicine and Para - clinical subjects such as pathology, pharmacology, general practice and public health medicine. In these years students spend most of their time in the affiliated hospitals.
