Civil engineering includes the planning, designing, construction, and maintenance of structures, and altering geography to suit human needs. This may include the construction of railroads, dams, bridges, tunnels, or buildings.
Graduates learn to manage the construction process, and to meet the needs of clients within quality, time, cost, legal, and environmental constraints. The third year is spent in a practical work-placement.
