This course includes training in algebra, probability, computing and statistics. During the second year, students specialise in actuarial maths, financial maths or applied maths.

In the third year up to 9 month paid work placement is required.

Higher Maths expected however OA1 or OA2 in Maths may be acceptable

Career opportunities depend on your area of specialisation. Actuarial mathematics graduates are employed in the actuarial and financial profession, which involves helping people to manage their exposure to risk, and its potential impact on their life, property, health, and future.

Financial mathematics graduates could become Investment Analysts, Risk Managers or Traders in financial products.

Applicable Mathematics specialises in high-level applications of modern mathematics to real world problems. There are opportunities in information technology, industry and education, as well as good research possibilities for some graduates.
