Mechatronics is defined as a combination of mechanics and electronics which is controlled by computers. This includes designing robots or machines for various purposes; from the space rovers which explore planets, to auto-focusing digital cameras.

Mechatronics shares its first year with Electronic Engineering SG 337, Mechanical Engineering SG 333 and Engineering Management SG 332.
