Electronic engineering, like electrical engineering, is concerned with electrical systems. However, electronic engineering is more concerned with light current systems, where electricity is used as a carrier of information, such as computers, televisions, CD players, etc.

This course has a comprehensive treatment of both the hardware and software components of modern computer systems, with particular attention paid to the special principles involved in the design of high-quality software. Students can specialise in either mobile robotics, image processing, digital signal processing, digital electronic systems.

After her four year course, she secured a placement with Intel through ICT Ireland. John Traynor works as a Development Analyst at CRH in Belgard Castle in Dublin. He holds a B.Eng in Electronic Engineering from DCU and a M.Sc Electronic Engineering from Trinity College. He did an MBA in the Smurfit Business School in 2007, which allowed him to change roles completely and move away from a purely engineering role and get more involved in the business functions of new company in a new industry.
