COMPUTER STUDIES (Information Processing) (5M2067)
This full time course provides an intensive programme of education and computer training as preparation for computer related careers in a commercial environment. The course provides a solid foundation in computer studies and equips students with knowledge and expertise in a wide range of Computer Applications. Considerable emphasis is placed on practical work, which reflects current practice in industry and commerce. The course organisation provides for related work experience.

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES This course provides the basis from which a student may further his/her studies or find employment as an Information Technology Assistant in the commercial area.
There is a wide range of opportunities in the I.T. sector including: Technical Support, Web/Internet Support, Computer Operations, Administration, Sales, Banks, Building Societies, Health Boards and Civil Service Local Authority Offices
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS Leaving Certificate standard or equivalent, combined with an interest in Information Technology
COURSE CONTENT Spreadsheets Methods, Database Methods, Word Processing, Information and Communication Systems, The Internet, Communications, Desktop Publishing, Work Experience and Web Authoring
