Dublin gets employment boost as SolarPrint announces 80 new jobs

Irish company SolarPrint is to create 80 new jobs in Dublin, the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Innovation Batt O'Keeffe has said.
The green tech company, which focuses on the development of technology used to convert light into energy, expects to open its first high volume manufacturing line next year in Dublin and is planning to increase its staff numbers from 20 to 100 by the end of 2011.
The new employment positions will include highly skilled roles in engineering, and research and development (R&D).
Opening the company's Dublin headquarters, Minister O'Keeffe said Ireland is now recognised as a top global "incubator for product innovation".
"SolarPrint's ambitious expansion plans demonstrate that we have the right mix of pro-business taxation policies, high-potential enterprise supports and talented workforce to enable firms to create products and services for worldwide consumption," he noted.
Earlier this week, Minister of State at the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment Conor Lenihan announced that researchers from Irish companies and higher education institutions had won financial support totalling EUR213 million from the largest European R&D funding programme ever.
