Healthcare Company to create 20 jobs in Carlow

Global healthcare company MSD is to create 20 new contract-based jobs at its Carlow facility as part of a €7m investment.

The investment, which will enhance MSD's manufacturing of new drugs, includes new roles in engineering, automation and project management.

The Carlow plant, where 146 employees already work, makes vaccines and biological products for various medical fields, including rheumatology and oncology. Work has already begun on the investment, and it is scheduled for completion in July 2013.

MSD employs 2,300 people in Ireland across eight sites in Cork, Dublin, Wicklow, Tipperary and Carlow, where €2.2bn has been invested in the last five years.

Realist
Realists are usually interested in 'things' - such as buildings, mechanics, equipment, tools, electronics etc. Their primary focus is dealing with these - as in building, fixing, operating or designing them. Involvement in these areas leads to high manual skills, or a fine aptitude for practical design - as found in the various forms of engineering.

Realists like to find practical solutions to problems using tools, technology and skilled work. Realists usually prefer to be active in their work environment, often do most of their work alone, and enjoy taking decisive action with a minimum amount of discussion and paperwork.
