I would advise them to get themselves physically fit and to maintain it. I would also say that a sense of humour is very important and the ability to laugh at themselves. They should have self discipline and be prepared to accept imposed discipline. Punctuality is very important as is respect for others. If they had sporting interests that would be a help.

Realist?
Realist 
Realists are usually interested in 'things' - such as buildings, mechanics, equipment, tools, electronics etc. Their primary focus is dealing with these - as in building, fixing, operating or designing them. Involvement in these areas leads to high manual skills, or a fine aptitude for practical design - as found in the various forms of engineering.

Realists like to find practical solutions to problems using tools, technology and skilled work. Realists usually prefer to be active in their work environment, often do most of their work alone, and enjoy taking decisive action with a minimum amount of discussion and paperwork.

Applications are invited for Electrical Apprenticeships in ESB Networks. Training will commence in Autumn 2015.

Candidates must be over 16 years of age on 1st June 2015

ESB Networks Ltd., a ring fenced subsidiary within ESB Group, is the licensed operator of the electricity distribution system in the Republic of Ireland. ESB Networks Ltd. is responsible for building, operating, maintaining and developing the electricity network and serving all electricity customers (2.3 million domestic, commercial and industrial customers) in the Republic of Ireland. Role Description

The successful candidate will be trained in all aspects of this work.

Educational Qualifications

Candidates must have obtained the following minimum standards at the time of applying:

Junior Certificate (Ordinary Level)

Grade C or higher at Ordinary Level (or Grade D or higher at Higher Level) in the Junior Certificate (or equivalent) in one sitting in the following subjects:

1. Irish or English

2. Mathematics

3. Science *

4. Any other 2 subjects

* If you have not obtained the required grade in Science, Grade C or higher in any one of the following subjects is acceptable:

Technology, Art Craft and Design, Technical Graphics, Materials Technology (Wood), Home Economics or Metalwork

OR

Leaving Certificate

Grade D or higher at Ordinary Level in the Leaving Certificate (or equivalent) in one sitting in the following subjects:

1. Irish or English

2. Mathematics

3. Science Subject *

4. Any other 2 subjects

*Agricultural Science, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Physics and Chemistry, Applied Mathematics

If you have not obtained the required grade in any of the above Science subjects, the following is acceptable at Leaving Certificate Level : Art, Construction Studies, Design and Communication, Graphics, Engineering, Home Economics, Technical Drawing and Technology.
