Up to 300 new jobs will be created in Cashel in Co Tipperary with US generic drugs giant Amneal.
Amneal expects to hire an estimated 250 to 300 employees, having purchased the former Johnson and Johnson plant on the Cahir Road in Cashel.
Amneal's Irish operations will be dedicated to research and development as well as the production of inhalers and biosimilars - all high-end specialty medications. The 200,000 square foot former Johnson & Johnson plant has lain idle for a number of years, but it now has a new lease of life.
The Jobs Minister Richard Bruton has described the announcement, as a massive boost for Cashel and the whole of Tipperary. The investment is supported by the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation through IDA Ireland.
Besides the availability of the J&J plant, Amneal chose Cashel for the quality of its local workforce, the enthusiastic support of government leaders and a positive business environment. The company in turn brings to Cashel a proven track record of providing steady jobs, empowering employees to do their best work and collaborating with the surrounding community to build a superb operation aligned with Amneal’s core values.
