It is a very rewarding but also extremely challenging job. It requires a lot of resilience, mental strength, patience and compassion. It means seeing people at their worst in the most difficult circumstances.

It involves making difficult decisions, which will have life changing consequences for the offenders. If you think you have the ability to handle all that, it is a truly great job with amazing opportunities.

The Linguistic's interests are usually focused on ideas and information exchange. They tend to like reading a lot, and enjoy discussion about what has been said. Some will want to write about their own ideas and may follow a path towards journalism, or story writing or editing. Others will develop skills in other languages, perhaps finding work as a translator or interpreter. Most Linguistic types will enjoy the opportunity to teach or instruct people in a topic they are interested in.

SUSI Opens for Grant Applications April 5th 2016

SUSI, the awarding authority for college grant applications, will open the online application system for Student Grants for the academic year 2016/17 on Tuesday April 5th 2016 for both new and renewal applications.

Advice to students:

  • Make your application as early as possible after the opening date to avaoid any delay in receiving payment.
  • Make sure the information you supply in relation to dates of birth, PPS numbers, etc. is correct, to avoid delays in the processing of your application.
  • Supply the documentation requested of you, correctly first time and on time.
  • Use the application tracker in your online account to check the progress of your submitted application at any stage.
