64% of schools considering Leaving Cert subject cuts ASTI:

64% of second level schools are considering dropping one or more subjects from their Leaving Certificate programme as a result of Budget 2012 education cuts.

The figure comes from a study commissioned by the Association of Secondary Teachers Ireland, ahead of their annual Easter conference.

The subjects most likely to be dropped are accounting, chemistry, physics and economics. 57% of schools indicated they are likely to amalgamate some classes at Leaving Cert level.

The research on the impact of education cuts since 2009 carried out by Millward Brown Lansdowne for the ASTI is based on responses of 151 principals.

It also found that 47% of schools surveyed have already dropped one or more subjects at Leaving Cert level as a result of cutbacks implemented since 2009

Be Careful How You Question The Rules

Learn to disagree without being disagreeable. Focus on the rule, policy, or issue - not the person behind it. Avoid personalizing it. The person must not feel attacked.

Realist
Realists are usually interested in 'things' - such as buildings, mechanics, equipment, tools, electronics etc. Their primary focus is dealing with these - as in building, fixing, operating or designing them. Involvement in these areas leads to high manual skills, or a fine aptitude for practical design - as found in the various forms of engineering.

Realists like to find practical solutions to problems using tools, technology and skilled work. Realists usually prefer to be active in their work environment, often do most of their work alone, and enjoy taking decisive action with a minimum amount of discussion and paperwork.
