You have to be willing to work things out. Every day we meet problems and as a scientist it is my job to understand the problem and then find a solution. A good technical knowledge of your area is essential, in my case Physics, Chemistry and Materials Science. A willingness to learn is essential and it is really important to listen to people around you as they may have the answer to your problem or a piece of the problem. Most people in my job would have a degree in a Science disipline and/or a post graduate degree such as a Masters or Ph.D.

Naturalist?
Naturalist
Not surprisingly, some aspect of the natural sciences will run through the Naturalists interests - from ecological awareness to nutrition and health. People with an interest in horticulture, land usage and farming (including fish) are Naturalists.

Some Naturalists focus on animals rather than plants, and may enjoy working with, training, caring for, or simply herding them. Other Naturalists will prefer working with the end result of nature's produce - the food produced from plants and animals. Naturalists like solving problems with solutions that show some sensitivity to the environmental impact of what they do. They like to see practical results, and prefer action to talking and discussing.

CAO Medical Students HPAT Exam Results

Last Monday, HPAT Ireland exam results were released to several thousand candidates who have applied to the undergraduate medicine courses in five medical schools: UCD, UCC, NUI Galway, Trinity and RCSI.

The HPAT (Health Professions Admissions Test) exam took place last February. HPAT scores (out of a total of 300) will be added to qualified applicants' Leaving Certificate scores.

Although candidates may not appeal their HPAT results, they may apply for a re-check, if they believe an error may have been made in scoring their exam. Requests for re-checks must be submitted online by 5.00 pm on May 6, at the cost of €80. The re-check fee will be refunded if a scoring error is found.

What are your Career Interests? 888

Social
Social
The Social person's interests focus on some aspect of those people in their environment. In all cases the social person enjoys the personal contact of other people in preference to the impersonal dealings with things, data and ideas found in other groups.

Many will seek out positions where there is direct contact with the public in some advisory role, whether a receptionist or a counsellor. Social people are motivated by an interest in different types of people, and like diversity in their work environments. Many are drawn towards careers in the caring professions and social welfare area, whilst others prefer teaching and other 'informing' roles.
