Careers rarely develop the way we plan them. Our career path often takes many twists and turns, with particular events, choices and people influencing our direction.

Research it well. Visit you local fire station, talk to the firefighters and question them ... they are generally very willing to help interested persons.

The training is excellent and will prepare you well for what will be expected of you. To "fit-in" you have got to be a team player, there's really no room for those who aren't. Who wants to work along someone for 25-30 years who only thinks of themself ? Your life may someday depend on them.

Do not consider this job if you are afraid of heights or confined spaces or squemish, in this job people will literally die in your arms; it's something you must give thought to. Having said all that ... the job is very safisfying

CAO Medical Students HPAT Exam Results

Last Monday, HPAT Ireland exam results were released to several thousand candidates who have applied to the undergraduate medicine courses in five medical schools: UCD, UCC, NUI Galway, Trinity and RCSI.

The HPAT (Health Professions Admissions Test) exam took place last February. HPAT scores (out of a total of 300) will be added to qualified applicants' Leaving Certificate scores.

Although candidates may not appeal their HPAT results, they may apply for a re-check, if they believe an error may have been made in scoring their exam. Requests for re-checks must be submitted online by 5.00 pm on May 6, at the cost of €80. The re-check fee will be refunded if a scoring error is found.
