Bachelor of Business in Retail Management - Lidl and Dublin Business School Programme 

Lidl is leading the way with an innovative programme that aims to combine employment and learning. We are investing in the future of our Irish retail operations by seeking ambitious and motivated individuals for our Retail Management Degree Programme in conjunction with Dublin Business School (DBS).

Now in its seventh year, the programme aims to recruit ambitious school leavers with an interest in retail. The programme’s duration is 3 years and consists of 50% work-based-learning in a Lidl Store and 50% college tuition in DBS. It provides school leavers with an exciting and challenging route to an internationally recognised third level qualification. Successful graduates of the programme will be offered a position with Lidl, which may only be the starting point in a very rewarding career with the company.

The programme is unique in Ireland and offers students a fantastic hands on education that is accredited at Level 7 on the National Qualifications Framework by the Higher Education Training Awards Council (HETAC). We sponsor the tuition fees in DBS in addition to paying you an attractive salary.

Applicants should note that:

  • This programme is not listed on the CAO and submissions must be made directly to Lidl. 
  • Minimum entry requirements are five passes at Leaving Certificate Ordinary Level including a C3 in Ordinary Level Mathematics and a D3 in English or another language, plus an overall minimum of 250 points.
  • Applicants can also apply after obtaining a FETAC Level 5 full award or equivalent. 


The closing date for the 2013 Programme is 31st May 2013.

The Programme
The standard programme consists of 18 months on the job training. In order to understand the insights of our business all participants start off with 9 months Sales training. Afterwards, you are then placed within your chosen area which will support your personal and professional development. Early responsibility and involvement in all business operations from day 1 will lead to your quick integration into your role.

We have excellent career opportunities on offer to graduates who successfully complete the programme.

Going International?
The strongest participants of the programme will have the opportunity to extend to 24 months and gain invaluable experience abroad. We will send you to Germany for 6 months, where you will learn the language and will also gain practical experience in an international environment. A prior knowledge of German is an advantage but not a necessity.
