CRH is a diversified building materials group which manufactures and distributes building material products from the fundamentals of heavy materials and elements to construct the frame, through value-added exterior products that complete the building envelope, to distribution channels which service construction fit-out and renewal.
CRH plc was formed through a merger in 1970 of two leading Irish public companies, Cement Limited (established in 1936) and Roadstone, Limited (1949). The newly-formed group was the sole producer of cement and the principal producer of aggregates, concrete products and asphalt in Ireland.
CRH employs approximately 76,000 people at 3,600 operating locations in 35 countries. Headquartered in Belgard Castle in Dublin, CRH focuses on three closely related core businesses:
- Primary materials (cement, aggregates, asphalt, etc)
- Value-added building products (bricks, roof tiles, insulation, etc)
- Specialist building materials distribution.
The Group’s broad geographic, sectoral and product balance together with its vigorous and consistent development strategy has delivered unbroken profit growth since 1992.
