The Garda Reserve is a voluntary, unpaid body, drawn from the community to assist the existing Service at times when extra personnel are required.
The Garda Síochána Act 2005 provided for the establishment of a Garda Reserve to assist the force in performing its functions. Its purpose is to supplement the work of members of the Garda Síochána.
