I suppose most people would regard the ‘blue-light’ calls as the “cool” thing in a police force. We use the blue lights when going to an emergency and the sirens to get through traffic and alert other road users that we are in a hurry.
Unfortunately, what waits for you at your destination is not always 'cool' and you could be going to a traffic collision in which someone has been injured. The lights and sirens do get the adrenaline going all right, but you have to control it so you do not cause a collision getting to the collision!
