We asked Karl Curran from Insurance to give some advice for people considering this job:
|I would highly recommend this job but I’d say to start taking insurance exams as soon as possible and get them done while you’re young.
I’d also recommend talking to as many people in the industry to see what area of insurance you want to go into i.e. Insurer, Broker, Loss Adjuster etc. – they’re very different!

This course provides a general understanding of the administrative, economic, legal and social setting in which business operates. Students can specialise at the start of the second year in either accountancy or marketing.
Business Information Systems - GA171
Upon completion of this course, students will be capable of undertaking a wide range of administrative duties in modern technological offices, such as word processing, communications, project management, accounting, business mathematics and statistics, human resource management, marketing, information technology, business law and one of the following: business French / German / Spanish / Irish.

This course provides comprehensive knowledge of the key functional areas of business and organisational management (including marketing, finance, operations, MIS, and personnel), with particular reference to small and medium size modern enterprises.
Accounting is the process of taking financial data, analysing it, and presenting it in reports that can be easily interpreted by others. This is crucial for businesses, where managers dont always have training in finance, but need this information to make informed decisions.
This course combines the development of IT skills with a critical understanding of business. Core subjects include the full range of business subjects plus information technology.
