AITI Qualification
Study a relevant area at a third level institution and obtain a level 8 degree. Traditionally AITI Chartered Tax Advisers (CTA) have studied Business, Accounting, Finance or Law courses but many graduates from Arts, Sciences and Engineering have also entered the profession. If candidates have studied law, accounting or tax they may benefit from exemptions.
No training contract is required to complete the AITI qualification therefore you could commence the AITI qualification once you graduate from college with your level 8 degree.
Tax Technician Qualification
Prospective students must hold a Level 5 qualification on the National Framework of Qualifications or equivalent (Leaving Certificate) to enroll on the TMITI course therefore you could commence this cource once you have obtained your leaving cert.
What advice do you have for graduates?
AITI Qualification
Graduates from all backgrounds can register for the AITI Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA) qualification.
Applicants must hold, at a minimum, an undergraduate degree at honours level (Level 8 of the National Qualifications Framework) or equivalent. Candidates who do not hold an honours degree or equivalent may be considered on a case-by case basis, through the recognition of work based learning.
It is not necessary to have studied business or legal disciplines before undertaking the AITI qualification. Engineers, scientists and teachers have become highly successful tax advisers. However, if candidates have studied law, accounting or tax previously, they may benefit from exemptions. Exemptions are not subject to time limits.
