What subjects did you take in school and how have these influenced your career path?
For my leaving Cert I studied, English, Irish, Maths, Geography, French, Biology and History. A formal education is not required to apply for the post of Clerical Officer in the Civil Service.
What is your education to date?
I am currently studying for a Batchelor of Arts Degree; I am receiving part funding for this course through a refund of fees scheme which is in operation through out the Civil Service.
What aspects of your education have proven most important for your job?
I have a degree standard of the Irish Language and this has proven to be my most important education aspect for my job. Less formal educational aspects include training courses such as Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint that I use on a daily basis for my job.
Have you undertaken, or do you plan to undertake any further training as part of your job?
Job roles can and do vary throughout the Civil Service and so I plan on continuing my development and training throughout my career.
