You need to work with people in the industry as knowledge is everything  - where to buy, who from, when etc. Health and safety courses and a pleasant manner and drive are also important.

Investigative 
The Investigative person will usually find a particular area of science to be of interest. They are inclined toward intellectual and analytical activities and enjoy observation and theory. They may prefer thought to action, and enjoy the challenge of solving problems with clever technology. The Interest Profiler is a really useful assessment exercise. Completing the exercise will highlight what occupations would be most suited to you. It takes about 15 minutes to complete and will generate an eight page career interest report that is unique for you.

How do I complete the Interest Profiler?
To complete your personal Interest Profiler, start by signing up to CareersPortal.ie and creating your on-line career file. This file can then be accessed from any machine anywhere. It will allow you to save up to 10 documents (e.g. CV, Cover Letter etc.) and complete a Personality Assessment in relation to what careers might suit you. You can also save Occupations of interest to you, details of related PLC and CAO courses that you think you would enjoy and also provides you with access to an array of useful information on study and career skills.

I joined a few different Recruitment Consultants which specialised in Finance, Accounting and Banking. I found the Recruitment Consultants very helpful as they offered to meet before the interview to go through any questions I might have, and continued to give me support throughout the process.

I had an initial interview with 3 people, (an HR consultant, and 2 of the managers). The next stage was psychometric testing - aptitude and personality tests, which are quite standard for these type of roles.

Then there was a second interview, again with 3 people (2 whom I had seen previously, and the Manager of Group Treasury). The whole process took a few weeks, and I was told I was the successful candidate by my Recruitment Consultant.
