The candidate needs to have a desire to travel. That is the most important. Travel is a vital part of the role of Internal Auditor at CRH. Your travel percentage ranges between 40% - 70% per year. They do try to keep it at a minimum but with a high staff turnover, you could be placed on additional audits that are short staffed.

You need to get on with all the people you work with also as you're away with these people for 4 nights a week for 4 weeks. You need to be friendly and outgoing and easy to get along with as it can get stressful on jobs so the last thing you want is someone who has attitude problems or can't communicate properly! Those 2 aspects are the most important for me.

Realist?
Realist 
Realists are usually interested in 'things' - such as buildings, mechanics, equipment, tools, electronics etc. Their primary focus is dealing with these - as in building, fixing, operating or designing them. Involvement in these areas leads to high manual skills, or a fine aptitude for practical design - as found in the various forms of engineering.

Realists like to find practical solutions to problems using tools, technology and skilled work. Realists usually prefer to be active in their work environment, often do most of their work alone, and enjoy taking decisive action with a minimum amount of discussion and paperwork.

The Labour Market

The labour market is a term used to describe the relationship between the workplace (available employment) and the workforce (people, aged 16 and over, who are working or are available to work). A labour market is said to be healthy if there is enough work available for all those who seek it. Most countries in the world have some difficulty achieving or maintaining a healthy labour market.

In Ireland, as in other countries, the health of our labour market changes over time. In the years up to 2007, we had one of the strongest (healthiest) labour markets in the world. Between then and 2013 our economy was under enormous stress, resulting in a large number of people looking for work, but little work available. Ireland's economy showed signs of recovery towards the end of 2013, reversing the employment trends of the previous years. Many workers upskilled while unemployed in order to adapt to new types of jobs available.

It is worth noting that the predictions and commentries made by economists, researchers and journalists provide information to be considered carefully, but we recommend that any predictions as to the future state of the labour market (2+ years) should be just one factor of many to be considered to guide your choice of career.
