Over 5,357 offers issued in CAO Round Zero today

A total of 5,357 offers have been issued by CAO today (1 August) to 4,363 applicants.

The offers will be available to view online from 6am (on 1 August). Successful applicants will also receive a paper offer notice by post, an email and a text message (if they have selected this option) with details of their offer.

Round Zero offers concern applicants who are not competing with those awaiting 2019 Leaving Certificate examination results, or who are assessed on other criteria.

The applicants who fall into this category include graduate entry medicine applicants, additional mature applicants, deferred and Access applicants, and applicants presenting QQI FET/FETAC qualifications for consideration for entry to courses with a quota for QQI/FET applicants.

What is a QQI/FET applicant?

QQI/FET applicants are those who have successfully completed a PLC course and are now the holders of a qualification that is recognised by Quality & Qualifications Ireland (QQI). PLC courses are recognised programmes of study which form a bridge between secondary school and Third Level education. Applicants can apply through the CAO for a course with a designated quota for QQI/FET applicants.

This year there were 3,484 Level 8 offers and 1,873 Level 7/6 offers issued in Round Zero.

Speaking about the offer process, CAO communications officer Eileen Keleghan commented; “We urge all mature, deferred, and other applicants in the categories to log in to their CAO accounts today to check if they have received a Round Zero offer.

“QQI FET/FETAC applicants who applied for a course with a quota for QQI FET applicants should also check their account.

“Offers must be accepted by 5:15 pm on Wednesday next, 7 August. Failure to accept an offer by the reply date will result in the offer being cancelled” she added.

To date, a total of 12,124 offers have been issued by CAO in Round A and Round Zero to a total of 9,792 applicants.
