New Retail Supervision Apprenticeship Officially Launched

Programme Has Already Attracted Over 100 New Apprentices

New Retail Supervision Apprenticeship Officially Launched

One of Ireland’s newest apprenticeship programmes in Retail Supervision has been officially launched this week.

This exciting two-year programme is designed for people who have the potential to work in a management or supervisory position within retail and will provide them with the skills, attitude and competencies to excel in any retail subsector.

Apprentices’ time will be divided between practical ‘on-the-job’ learning and more traditional classroom education where they will cover areas such as customer relations, communications and retail law.

Those enrolled have an opportunity to apply the skills they learn in the classroom directly to their workplace while earning a QQI Level 6 qualification.

Speaking at the launch, Director of Retail Ireland, Thomas Burke commented:

“This much-needed programme also addresses contemporary issues facing the domestic retail industry, including increasingly demanding consumers, technological advances and globalised competition."

The education centres for this apprenticeship are Griffith College Dublin and Galway Business School with Retail Ireland looking to expand providers in the future as demand grows.

The first intake for this course was September 2019 and consisted of 105 retail workers.
