Undergraduate awards typically reflect three to five years of study after secondary school and include Ordinary (Level 7) and Honours Bachelor Degrees and Higher Diplomas (Level 8's).
Undergraduate awards may be achieved directly or through a series of progression steps. Learners may choose to progress upwards from a Level 5 to a Level 6, Level 7 and finally a Level 8.
Undergraduate awards are awarded by the QQI, HEA or Higher Education Institutes.
Career Opportunities
3rd level Graduates are qualified for a wide range of occupations, and their education prepares them for roles involving specific skills, and for coordinating, supervising, managing, or training others. Examples include accountants, sales managers, computer programmers, teachers, chemists, environmental engineers, criminal investigators, and financial analysts.

The Bachelor in Education degree is an integrated course of study designed to equip student teachers with the range of knowledge and skill related to the profession of primary school teaching and its curriculum.
The child-centred and active approach to teaching integral to Froebel philosophy is central to the ethos of this programme.
Students take Educational modules and a number of school placements across the four years.
The course structure enables student-teachers to make real connections between the theory and practice of education. This is achieved through the blend of methodology and foundation discipline courses on offer. An exciting range of elective courses are also offered to students in Second, Third and Fourth Year.

In each of the four years students have opportunites for school placements.
In 3rd and 4th Yr there are two fortnightly blocks in Gaeltacht areas.
Subject to availability students have the option of an Erasmus year abroad.
The course is designed to prepare students to be primary school teachers in the Republic of Ireland. As a solid preparation in primary and early childhood education, the degree is also recognised internationally as a preparation for primary school teaching and other related work in education.
Graduates may go on with further study to become educational psychologists, inspectors, volunteers in developing countries, authors of educational texts, teacher educators within universities, or seek employment with the Department of Education and Skills. Other Postgraduate options include qualiifications in Special Educational Needs, School Guidance Counselling or Education.
