Careers rarely develop the way we plan them. Our career path often takes many twists and turns, with particular events, choices and people influencing our direction. We asked Deborah Caffrey from Intel to give some advice for people considering this job: |

| For my particular job role, as a yield analysis engineer, good organization and communication skills are quite important. Along with having the technical knowledge, being able to properly communicate your ideas/findings is very important. A lot of my day is spent dealing with other people in the factory and it is very important to be able to communicate efficiently with them. | |||||

This is an access course that prepares students – both personally and academically – to go on and study for a degree in Trinity College.
This is not a CAO entry course - course fees required - apply directly to the college.
Students can choose from two broad areas of study: arts and social sciences or science.
The arts and social science modules are: english, history, political science, law, sociology and social policy, economics, philosophy and psychology, and maths and statistics.
Students select up to five modules. The science modules are: maths for sciences and engineering, biology, physics and chemistry.
In addition, students take three core modules in study skills, information technology and educational guidance.
Students also take part in a professional development and mentoring programme with Grant Thornton - a chartered accountants and management consultancy firm.

Students who successfully complete the course receive a Certificate in Foundation Studies from Trinity College. Students who get a grade of at least 50% can compete for places on degree courses in Trinity.
