I thought the job would solely be to compute an individual’s / company’s tax liability but it extends to so much more beyond that. You are not just solely a person or organisation’s tax advisor; you are a general business adviser helping them to make key business/commercial decisions.

WHAT ARE YOUR INTERESTS?

Realist? 		Realist
Realists are usually interested in 'things' - such as buildings, mechanics, equipment, tools, electronics etc. Their primary focus is dealing with these - as in building, fixing, operating or designing them. Involvement in these areas leads to high manual skills, or a fine aptitude for practical design - as found in the various forms of engineering.

Realists like to find practical solutions to problems using tools, technology and skilled work. Realists usually prefer to be active in their work environment, often do most of their work alone, and enjoy taking decisive action with a minimum amount of discussion and paperwork.

Quantity Surveyors are the accountants of the construction industry and are employed by building developers, designers and contractors to:-

  • Examine building design drawings and estimate the construction cost
  • Cost plan construction projects
  • Advise the design team of the cost implications of design changes
  • Advise on legal matters in relation to construction contracts
  • Ensure that the construction project represents value for money and that the project remains within the agreed budget
The aim of the programme is to produce graduates capable of demonstrating the knowledge and range of high level skills and competencies necessary for the cost management of construction projects
