Careers rarely develop the way we plan them. Our career path often takes many twists and turns, with particular events, choices and people influencing our direction. We asked Rachel Berry from Health Service Executive to give some advice for people considering this job: |

| Consider your options carefully. It is likely that you are expecting top grades in your Leaving Certificate if you are considering pharmacy as a career so there will be plenty of doors open to you. Make sure you do plenty of work experience in different areas of pharmacy and if it is healthcare you are interested in then consider getting some work experience in medicine etc. I know quite a few people who have completed a pharmacy degree only to realise they actually want to do medicine! | |||||

Undergraduate awards typically reflect three to five years of study after secondary school and include Ordinary (Level 7) and Honours Bachelor Degrees and Higher Diplomas (Level 8's).
Undergraduate awards may be achieved directly or through a series of progression steps. Learners may choose to progress upwards from a Level 5 to a Level 6, Level 7 and finally a Level 8.
Undergraduate awards are awarded by the QQI, HEA or Higher Education Institutes.
Career Opportunities
3rd level Graduates are qualified for a wide range of occupations, and their education prepares them for roles involving specific skills, and for coordinating, supervising, managing, or training others. Examples include accountants, sales managers, computer programmers, teachers, chemists, environmental engineers, criminal investigators, and financial analysts.

The programme will develop further the graduate’s skill in core civil engineering areas such as structures, geotechnical engineering, project management and environmental engineering. Written and oral communication will form a significant component of this course. The programme builds on the practically-based civil engineering skills developed in the Ordinary degree programme and will allow them to be employable, adaptable and flexible in their future careers in the civil engineering profession.

Graduates will possess the technical and manegerial skills necessary to enter careers as Civil Engineers including planning, design, construction, operation or maintenance of the built environment and global infastructure. Graduates can find employment both in Ireland and abroad with contractors, subcontractors, consultants, state and semi-state bodies, local authorities and suppliers of civil engineering products and equipment.
