The BSc in Data Science, the first of its kind in Ireland, is aimed at students who are interested in a career in Big Data, data analytics and related data science roles.

Data Science is the study of information - where it comes from, what it tells us and how to turn it into a resource for business, government and social strategies.

The course offers modules on theory in mathematics, statistics, programming, cloud technologies and machine learning.  Students are also taught to apply their learning to industry and society.

Career Progression

In year three students explore real world scenario in in data science ‘pods’ where they work with enterprises and cultural institutions.

The second half of third year is dedicated to an INTRA work placement where students join a Data Science team in a large organisation and gain real understanding of their future work role.

Graduates enter careers as Data Scientists, Business Intelligence Analysts, Data Programmers in the fields of Finance, Healthcare, Telecommunications, Media, Retail and Sport.
