Naturalist?

Naturalist

Not surprisingly, some aspect of the natural sciences will run through the Naturalist's interests - from ecological awareness to nutrition and health. People with an interest in horticulture, land usage and farming (including fish) are Naturalists.

Some Naturalists focus on animals rather than plants, and may enjoy working with, training, caring for, or simply herding them. Other Naturalists will prefer working with the end result of nature's produce - the food produced from plants and animals. Naturalists like solving problems with solutions that show some sensitivity to the environmental impact of what they do. They like to see practical results and prefer action to talking and discussing.

All of this requires professionals, to curate museums and organise events. As we become a more international society, with business from around the world based here, the demand for language skills is increasing. People with language skills will find opportunities in many areas including tourism, translation and international sales.

Labour Market Information

A shortage of those with Foreign language skills have been identified in the National Skills Bulletin 2018 for several occupations including Sales account strategists, Inside sales representatives, Marketing specialists (including digital), Contact centre agents, Customer service representatives and Business sales executives.

The language skills most in demand include German, French and the Nordic languages. There is also a growing need for Mandarin as trade links grow with China.
