During the placement, CMP wants to test the shelf life of its mushroom products packaged using modern materials. The student would work closely with both experienced Scientists and mushroom growers to carry out the shelf life tests. This will be done by storing mushrooms in typical conditions for extended periods while regularly making careful observations and measurements which relate to mushroom quality.
We are looking for an enthusiastic person, preferably someone with prior experience in Science, Food Science or a related discipline. The placement will take place on a functioning mushroom farm in the Portarlington/Mountmellick area and the student will gain an insight into how mushrooms are produced, harvested and packaged. Accordingly, the student will be expected to comply with hygiene practices and maintain a clean and tidy working environment.
